News!
Save the Grand Theatre, Inc. has taken another step forward with the support
of the Franklin County Fiscal Court and their adoption of an ordinance to levy
a 2 percent hotel room tax to support renovation of the historic Grand Theatre.
We thank the Magistrates and Judge Executive for listening to us and believing
in our performing and visual arts facility project for our community.
Our plans are the in the process of formulation with regard to the future.
We expect to close the theater by year end so that we can begin internal demolition
of the floor and other non-historic elements sometime shortly thereafter.
Following the completion of construction plans, we will bid the work and move
forward with the bond issue to finance this project, award the construction
contract, and commence construction. Our hope is that things will continue
to go well with construction commencing in the early spring of 2007 such that
the work can be completed and the new Grand Theatre can be reopened in the fall
of 2008. Once again, this is an ambitious plan and is subject to many
uncertainties.
Again, we thank Governor Fletcher, the Kentucky General Assembly, Senators Carroll
and Williams, Representatives Graham and Arnold, Judge Executive Roach, Magistrates
Wells, Kring, Moore, Robinson, Fannin, and Dawson. We will prove to the
entire Fiscal Court, including those who did not vote to support the Grand Theatre,
as well as to the Tourism Commission and the local hotels that the trust placed
in us is merited.
Thank you again for all of your support as audience members, volunteers, and
members of the community! mov to wmv 100% free . urgent term paper help to smooth your way through academic hardships . She thinks that she played almost every day at playing at this site.
